To promote ingenious manufacturing in Electronics System Development and Maintenance (ESDM), IT Ministry backed Electropreneur Park has shortlisted eight electronic hardware startups from across the country for its pre-incubation, incubation and visual accelerator programs, said a senior official. In yet another move to enhance the startup ecosystem, the government is planning to set up 51 startup incubators across the country. The incubators will be set up as part of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MeitY) Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs (TIDE) scheme 2.0. According to reports, the MeitY stated that organizations that are into higher learning and R&D organizations with incubation facilities would be able to send the applications before 30 June for the scheme. The 51 TIDE centres have been categorized into – Group 1 Centre (G1C), G2C and G3C based on fulfilling conditions with respect to the number of incubation centres, and years of experience in offering incubation services, along with tie-ups with industry bodies and large enterprises. G1C – incubators with 6 centres that would be offering deep support, which include mentoring, capacity building, investment and post-investment advisory. G1C category incubators must have had 3 years of experience. All the 6 centres would be having a PAN-Indian presence. G2C – incubators with 25 centres and 2 years of experience and would be offering support to aspiring entrepreneurs and students G3C – would be encouraging entrepreneurship in unexplored regions. G3C must have 20 incubation centres. Get Your Company Registered The ministry stated that TIDE 2.0 scheme would offer financial and technical support to more than 2,000 startups, in the Information and Communication technology space, involving latest technological trends like blockchain, artificial intelligence, robotics and the internet of things in “pre-identified areas of societal relevance” – Healthcare, Education, Agriculture, Environment among others. The TIDE scheme was launched in 2008 by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) and under the scheme, nearly 27 centres managed by academic bodies, private and government bodies and corporate existed till November 2018.
