To reduce the financial stress of salaried individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government has allowed special provisions for withdrawal from the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) account. Now you can withdraw up to three months’ salary (basic pay and dearness allowance) or 75% of the total EPF balance in your account, whichever is lower.


Employee engagement and security are important to a company’s success. Various schemes have been put into action so that the employees can sit back and relax after their retirement. One such scheme is the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS). Here, we will discuss one important document (Form 10C), that helps to claim benefits under this scheme. 

Types of Forms

In order to withdraw the amount of pension sum added over the years, various forms have to be filled depending on several measures that are:

  • Form 10D: This form is filled when the Employee wants to apply for their monthly pension after retirement at 58.
  • Form 10C: This form is filled in case of the Withdrawal of the pension/ EPS amount. This is usually filled in the case when the employee has not been in service for more than 10 years and wants to withdraw the sum.

Let’s discuss about the Form 10C in detail. 

Filling Form 10C

Form 10C can be filled both online and offline. It can be filled offline by downloading through the official website of EPFO.

Form 10C can be filled online through the following steps:

  • Open the official website for Employees’ Provident Fund, i.e.,
  • Then, with your UAN number and password provided, sign in to your account.
  • Another page opens, where you need to click on the online services option.
  • From the various claim form options, select the Form 10C.
  • The next page opens, where you will be able to see all your details.
  • “Proceed Online Claim” button is provided. Once you check the information, click on that button.
  • The Claim section opens, where you will have to choose the claim type, whether it is ‘Withdraw PF only’ or ‘Withdraw Pension only’.
  • Fill in the form completely and carefully. You will receive an OTP if you enter all the information properly.
  • When you submit the OTP, immediately the initiation of claim request will rise. 
  • Once you complete all the process, it accepts the claim request. The withdrawal amount will be transferred to your account.

Uses of Form 10C:

The form 10C is used for the following:

  • Withdrawing Amounts: The employees who have not completed 10 years of service and are less than 50 years in age are provided with this benefit of withdrawing the amounts as they are not eligible for the pension amounts.
  • Getting the Scheme Certificate so as to retain the membership for EPF: If the employee has been in service for more than 9.5 years, they can claim this certificate for the continuation of the membership when by rejoin the job/organization, allowing them to withdraw their amounts. The employee must be less than 50 years in age in order to claim this Scheme Certificate.
  • Share refund for the Employer

Form 10C: Contents and Instructions

This form consists of 4 pages in total, wherein the first 2 pages have to be filled with the general information that includes the following:

  • Name
  • PF Number
  • DOB (Date of Birth)
  • Father’s/Husband’s Name and Address
  • Other personal information and details

On the 3rd page, the employer is required to fill in the advances taken from the account, and the 4th page consists of the information for Administrative purposes and need not be filled by the employer themselves.

Documents to be attached with the Form 10C

The form has to be signed by both the employer of the last working organization and the employee. In case, the organization does not exist anymore, the form must be signed by any authorized Official.

The other documents to be submitted along with the Form 10C are as follows:

  • Blank Cheque
  • Birth Certificate of kids (For Scheme Certificate)
  • Death certificate ( In case the employer is no more)
  • Rs.1 Stamp


Form 10C helps the employees to obtain their collected amount over the years, without having the lose it. All the documents and criteria must be fulfilled necessarily in order to avail of the benefits.
