The EPFO has recently announced on its Twitter handle that the Pension Payment Order (PPO) number and UAN are now available on the government’s e-locker service DigiLocker.

Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is better known as a retirement benefits scheme for all the registered salaried employees. EPFO is governed by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. For the benefit of employees, EPFO has launched UAN e-Sewa online portal for all its member users to access a wide range of services and manage their Provident Fund account without visiting EPFO office. Before logging into the UAN e-Sewa online portal, you need to activate the UAN. Let’s know about UAN and then we will see step by step how to login at the e-Sewa Portal. 

What is UAN?

EPFO has given a 12- digit UAN (Universal Account Number) to every registered employee. It is a unique number which remains the same, irrespective of job changes. If you’re having more than one PF account, you can merge all the PF accounts.

How to know your UAN?

An employee can get to know the Universal Account Number directly through an employer or check-in salary slips.

Or

One can obtain UAN number through UAN member e-Sewa portal using Member ID/PF number along with furnishing following details:

  1. Name
  2. Date of Birth
  3. Mobile Number
  4. Email ID

After entering all the details along with Captcha Code, click on the tab “Get Authorization Pin.”

You will receive an authorisation PIN to your registered mobile number. Click on “Validate OTP and get UAN” tab after entering the OTP.

By doing so, you will receive UAN to your mobile number.

Note: PF Number is also called as Member ID.

How to Activate UAN?

Step 1:

Click the URL: https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

Step 2:

Visit the link given in the bottom right column under “Important Links” Section.

Step 3:

Enter the following details:

  1. UAN*
  2. Name*
  3. Date of Birth*
  4. Mobile Number*
  5. Email ID  and Captcha Code*

Note: Make sure you enter the correct details as per EPF records.

Title with (*) is a mandatory field.

Once you entered the Captcha Code, click on “Get Authorisation Pin”

You will get the PIN to your mobile number.

Step 4:

Click on “I Agree” and then enter the OTPAfter that, click on ‘Validate OTP and Activate UAN’.

On successful UAN Activation, you will receive an auto-generated password to your mobile number.

You can also change the password by clicking on “Forgot Password”.

Now, you will have complete access to your EPF Account.

How to login into UAN member e-Sewa portal?

  1. Visit the https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
  2. Enter your UAN number and your new password.

While activating UAN, you will get a password on your mobile. Use it for first login and then change it after the first login.

UAN member login portal offers hosts of services related to the EPF account. Let’s look at each section in detail.

View:

Under the “View” tab you can access the following drop-down:

  1. Profile
  2. Service History
  3. UAN Card
  4. Passbook
  5. Profile:

In the profile section, you can see the following information and you can also modify some of the details. Along with that, a member can upload his/her photo in the prescribed format.

  1. UAN
  2. Name
  3. Date of Birth
  4. Gender
  5. Father’s or Husband’s Name
  6. Relation
  7. Is International Worker
  8. Qualification
  9. Marital Status
  10. Permanent Address
  11. Current Address
  12. Differently-abled

6. Service History:

The Service History section will show the following EPF details along with the list of organisation your account is linked including the one you are currently working with.

  1. Member ID
  2. Establishment Name
  3. Establishment ID
  4. Date Of Joining (DOJ) Employee Provident Fund
  5. Date of Ending (DOE) Employee Provident Fund
  6. Date Of Joining (DOJ) Employee Pension Scheme
  7. Date of Ending (DOE) Employee Pension Scheme
  8. Date Of Joining (DOJ) Family Pension Scheme
  9. Date of Ending (DOE) Family Pension Scheme

7. UAN Card

You can view and download your UAN Card from the UAN login portal. You can submit downloaded at the time of offline withdrawal or transfer of your PF account.

8. Passbook

Step 1: Under the “View” menu, click on the “Passbook” from the drop-down list.

Step 2: Now, Login using your UAN and Password.

The passbook will have the entries about the contribution made by you, your employer and the interest added to your credit

Manage:

In the “Manage” tab, you will find four different sections in the drop-down menu. You can modify details such as name, contact details and also add KYC.

Apart from that, you can also proceed for E-nomination.

Adding KYC:

A member can add KYC details:

  1. Bank Account
  2. PAN
  3. Aadhaar
  4. Passport
  5. Driving License
  6. Election Card
  7. Ration Card
  8. National population Register

To avail any services, only verified KYC such as Aadhaar, PAN will be considered.

Under the “Account” tab, you can change the password of your UAN account.

Online Services:

Under the “Online Services” tab, you can find four drop-down.

  1. Claim (Form 31, 19, 10C & 10D)
  2. One Member- One EPF Account (Transfer Request)
  3. Track Claim Status
  4. Download Annexure K

Claim (Form 31, 19, 10C&10D)

It is a composite claim form for all sort of PF withdrawal – either partial or full, from your EPF account.

It is important to Link your Aadhaar with UAN to make a successful withdrawal of the PF amount.

One Member- One EPF Account

A UAN member can raise a transfer request from one account to another. Before making such a request, it is important to update the KYC details. Furnish all other bank details in the portal.

Track Claim Status

Once you have applied to claim your PF amount. Based on your request, the amount will be transferred to your account within the prescribed time-limit.
