At the enrolment centre, applicants are required to fill out the Aadhaar Enrolment form and submit it along with supporting documents to complete the registration process. The submission of self-attested copies of documents plays a crucial role in the verification and authentication process conducted by UIDAI officials. 

Documents Required for Aadhaar Card for Minors:

  1. Child’s Birth Certificate
  2. Aadhaar card of any one parent
  3. Proof of Identity and Address of the parents

Identity Proof Required for Aadhaar Card Enrolment

Here’s a look at the list of documents which the UIDAI accepts as valid identity proof during registration/enrolment of new users:

  1. Passport
  2. PAN card
  3. Ration card or PDS Photocard
  4. Voter Identification card
  5. Driving licence 
  6. Any ID card issued by the government that contains the applicant’s photo
  7. PSU-issued photo IDs
  8. MG-NREGS Job card
  9. ID card issued by a government-recognised educational institution
  10. Licence of Arms
  11. Bank ATM/Credit/Debit card that contains your name and photo
  12. Freedom fighter’s or pensioner’s photo card
  13. Kisan’s passbook containing his or her photo
  14. CGHS-issued photo card
  15. ECHS-issued photo card
  16. Marriage certificate/ Proof of marriage issued by Registrar
  17. Name change certificate issued by the government
  18. Address card issued by the Department of Post containing both the applicant’s name and photo
  19. Identity certificate issued by the Tehsildar. Otherwise, any Gazetted Officer on a recognised letterhead
  20. Disability ID card or handicapped certificate issued by the government. Otherwise, issued by a government-approved institution

Address Proof Required for Aadhaar Registration

To ensure the accurate delivery of Aadhaar cards to the correct residential addresses, it is crucial to submit valid and updated address proof documents. 

Here is a list of documents that UIDAI approves and accepts as valid address proof:

  1. Passport
  2. Passbook or Bank Account Statement
  3. Post Office account statement. Otherwise, the bank account passbook 
  4. Ration Card
  5. Voter Identification card
  6. Driving licence 
  7. Any ID card issued by the government that contains the applicant’s photo
  8. PSU-issued photo ID containing the applicant’s address
  9. Last three month’s electricity bill/ water bill/ landline telephone bill/ gas bill/ property tax receipt from the past year
  10. Credit card statement for the previous three months
  11. Insurance policy
  12. Bank-issued letter with applicant’s address on their letterhead. Moreover, the applicant’s photo is required.
  13. Company-issued letter with applicant’s photograph and address on the company’s letterhead via their registered office
  14. Recognised educational institution-issued letter with applicant’s photo and address on their letterhead
  15. NREGS Job card
  16. Licence of Arms
  17. Freedom fighter’s or pensioner’s photo card
  18. Kisan’s passbook containing his or her photo
  19. CGHS-issued photo card
  20. ECHS-issued photo card
  21. Address certificate issued by the Tehsildar, MP, MLA. Otherwise, issued by any Gazetted Officer on a recognised letterhead
  22. Identity certificate issued by the Village Panchayat Head. Otherwise, an identity certificate issued by an equivalent authority 
  23. Income Tax assessment order
  24. Vehicle registration certificate
  25. Sale deed or  the lease agreement of the applicant’s residential address
  26. Address card issued by the Department of Post containing both the applicant’s name and photo
  27. Disability ID card or handicapped certificate issued by the government or a government-approved institution
  28. Caste Certificate or  Domicile certificate containing applicant’s photo 
  29. Passport of the spouse or partner
  30. Parent’s passport for minors

Date of Birth Proof Required for Aadhaar Registration

For Aadhaar enrolment or updating the date of birth, it is necessary to submit valid documents as proof of date of birth. 

Here is a list of documents accepted by UIDAI for date of birth verification:

  1. Birth Certificate 
  2. SSLC Book Certificate 
  3. Passport 
  4. Date of the birth certificate issued by the Tehsildar. Otherwise, issued by the Gazetted Officer on their letterhead
  5. PAN Card
  6. University’s mark sheet. Otherwise, marksheets of any Government Board. 
  7. Government-issued photo ID containing DoB. Moreover, PSU-issued photo ID is also allowed
  8. Either state or central pension payment order 
  9. CGHS-issued photo ID
  10. Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme-issued photo ID

Relationship Proof Required for Aadhaar Registration

When establishing the relationship between the applicant and the head of the family for Aadhaar enrolment or updating purposes, certain documents are accepted by UIDAI as valid proof. 

Here is a list of documents that UIDAI accepts for proof of relationship:

  1. PDS Card
  2. MNREGA Job card
  3. ESIC-issued medical card
  4. CGHS Issued medical card. Otherwise, ECHS-issued medical card
  5. State government-issued medical card
  6. Army canteen card
  7. Pension card
  8. Passport 
  9. Family entitlement document from Central Government. Otherwise, from the State Government, wherever applicable.
  10. Birth Certificate
Individuals must submit one document from each category as supporting evidence when submitting their Aadhaar enrolment form application. Moreover, in case you do not have any of these documents, you can apply for an Aadhaar either via the head of the family or through an introducer. 

Documents Required for Aadhaar Card for Minors

When a child above the age of five applies for Aadhaar, certain documents are required for the enrolment process. Here is a list of documents needed:

  1. Address Proof:

   – Passport of the spouse or ration card. Alternatively, Voter ID card, Driving License, or last three months’ credit card statement, bank statement, electricity bill, water bill, gas bill, or landline bill. An insurance policy with the same address is also acceptable.

  1. ID Proof:

   – Passport or PAN card. Voter ID card or driving license can also be submitted.

  1. Birth Certificate:

   – The birth certificate of the child is required for the enrolment process.

  1. Parent’s Aadhaar:

   – Aadhaar card of either parent needs to be submitted as part of the documents.

For Children Below the Age of Five:

Children below the age of five do not have to provide biometric data during the enrolment process. However, once they attain the age of five, biometric data needs to be added to their Aadhaar, and the details should be updated when they reach the age of fifteen.

For NRIs Applying for Aadhaar:

NRIs (Non-Resident Indians) applying for Aadhaar need to submit the following documents:

  1. Birth Certificate:

   – Birth certificate is required as proof of birth.

  1. Photo ID Proof:

   – Any valid photo ID proof is needed for the enrolment process.

  1. School Certificate:

   – A school certificate can be submitted as a document.
