Aadhaar Card Number Verification

The best way to check if your Aadhaar card is genuine or fake verify the Aadhaar number. This will ensure if the registration has been successful. Here’s a look at how to do that.

  1. Go to the UIDAI’s official website.
  2. From the home page, go to the Aadhaar Services tab, and click on Aadhaar Verification.
  3. Next, enter your Aadhaar number along with your security code.
  4. Click on Verify to ascertain the authenticity of your Aadhaar.
  5. You can see the results page if the Aadhaar number entered exists in the UIDAI database or not.
  6. Successfully verified one will show demographic details of the Aadhaar cardholder.
  7. No need to link your mobile number with the Aadhaar card to avail of this service.

People can use this method to verify the Aadhaar card and details of someone else. Individuals are free to make as many Aadhaar number verifications as needed, as there is no limit.

Registered Email and Mobile Number Verification

This Aadhaar Card service allows users to check whether their card mentions their mobile number and email address. To avail of this feature, register your mobile number to the UIDAI database. Only the owner of the Aadhaar card can perform this verification. Verify your mobile number:

  1. From the home page, go to the Aadhaar Services tab, and click on Email ID/Mobile Number Verification.
  2. In the box that shows up, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.
  3. Next, enter your registered mobile number or email ID, the security code and click on Get OTP.
  4. You will receive the OTP on your registered mobile number, enter it in the field provided to complete verification.

You can now see the linking of your Aadhaar card and mobile number   

Biometric Details Locking and Unlocking

Currently, the UIDAI provides two ways to lock the Aadhaar data of its users. One is through its website, and the other through the m-Aadhaar app (aadhaar app). By locking your biometric details, you can disable the use of your fingerprint and iris scans. Moreover, if you wish to use these features for authentication, you can temporarily unlock them for ten minutes to complete verification. Further, on completing ten minutes, the biometric details will get locked automatically. If you do wish to have this added security, you can permanently disable your lock. To lock your biometric information through the UIDAI’s official website, here’s what you need to do;

  1. Go to the official UIDAI website.
  2. Similarly, from the homepage, go to the Aadhaar Services tab and click on Lock/Unlock Biometrics option.
  3. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the security code.
  4. Next, click on the Send OTP button to proceed.
  5. Additionally, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number, enter that into the respective field and click on Login.
  6. Enter the 4-digit security code, and click on ‘Enable’ or ‘Lock’.
  7. Additionally, doing this will lock your biometric data, and to unlock it, you will have to log in again. (biometric lock)
To unlock your biometric details through the UIDAI’s official website, here’s what you need to do;
  1. Go to the official UIDAI website.
  2. From the homepage, go to the Aadhaar Services tab and click on Lock/Unlock Biometrics option.
  3. Additionally, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the security code.
  4. Next, click on the Send OTP button to proceed.
  5. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number, enter that into the respective field and click on Login.
  6. Next, enter the 4-digit security code.
  7. Further, You will now be able to see two options- Disable and Unlock.
  8. To temporarily unlock your biometric details, click on the latter.
  9. Similarly, if you wish to stop using this security feature, you may click on Disable. 

Status of Aadhaar-Bank Account Linkage

Using this service will allow you to verify whether your Aadhaar-Bank Account linking has been successful. Moreover, if the linking is incomplete, the server will display a message indicating the unlinking of your Aadhaar and bank accounts. Likewise, to avail of this facility, you must register your mobile number with your Aadhaar card. Further, the UIDAI does not store any data about linking details. Therefore, to verify if your Aadhaar-Bank account linking has been successful, here’s what you need to do.

  1. Go to the official UIDAI website.
  2. Moreover, from the homepage, go to the Aadhaar Services tab and click on Check Aadhaar and Bank Account Linking status.
  3. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the security code.
  4. Next, click on the Send OTP button to proceed.
  5. Further, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number, enter that into the respective field and click on Submit.

If successful, you will now see the bank accounts linked to your Aadhaar card.

Viewing Aadhaar Authentication History

This Aadhaar Card service will allow you to view your Aadhaar authentication history. The results will contain details regarding the transactions for which you have used your Aadhaar for authentication. Additionally, to check your Aadhaar Card Authentication history, here’s what you need to do;

  1. Visit the UIDAI’s official website.
  2. Further, from the homepage, go to the Aadhaar Services section, and click on Aadhaar Authentication History.
  3. Next, enter your Aadhaar number and security code and click on Generate OTP.
  4. Next, choose the Authentication Type, range of dates, and the number of results you wish to see.
  5. Therefore, you will receive the OTP, enter it into the appropriate field and click on Submit.

This will bring up a page that lists all your authentication requests. From here, you can view the translation ID, authentication type and date of authentication.

Generation of Aadhaar Virtual ID

The Aadhaar Virtual ID is a unique 16-digit code that helps with Aadhaar authentication. Users can provide agencies asking for Aadhaar information with their UIDAI Virtual ID. Moreover, this will protect their Aadhaar details from falling into the wrong hands. You can generate such an ID to use in place of your Aadhaar number. Further, here’s a quick look at what you need to do to generate your Virtual ID online.

  1. Visit the UIDAI’s official website via this link
  2. Moreover, from the home screen, go to the Aadhaar Services section and click on the Virtual ID Generator option.
  3. Next, enter your Aadhaar number and security code to proceed.
  4. Click on Send OTP to complete the verification process.
  5. Therefore, you will receive the OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter it into the appropriate field and click on Generate/Retrieve VID.

On successful verification, you will receive a message indicating your Virtual ID has been generated. The ID will reach you via text on your registered mobile number.
